My old Saturn gets 40 miles per gallon. Any interference by the govt to restrict my use of gas, or the vehicle I drive, will only increase the risk of losing my job. You would get a tax deduction. The thing is, the reason you have to pay $4 for a gallon is the people passing you all day long in their SUVs. They are not paying the true cost of the operation of their vehicle... you are paying a significant percentage of their cost. You are subsidizing large, inefficient vehicles every time you go to the pump. So you want to do that... I don't.
