One other little benefit. While everyone else needs 18,000+ BTU central A/C units to cool their homes we us a strategically placed 5,000 BTU window unit to cool the entire house. That's a couple hundred more dollars saved every summer. --- A well insulated house could almost be heated with a match 2 x 12 walls? Double 2x 4 wall with a 5 1/2 inch space provides better ways to insulate with layers and much better soundproofing. Now tear it down and do it right.
