Liberals like buffet are always talking about paying their fair share with higher rates but they totally ignore the fact that young entrepreneurs have to pay that rate also even if their success is just for a year or two. If the 200k guy should pay over 40% lets tax buffet at 70% and lets watch him scream like a stuck pig. Same for soros as well. Why cant the left see that there is a huge difference between earnings of 200k for a family and buffet income.

Who do you think are the "mid-wage earners"? Those making 30-50K a year? Many of them also have home mortgages, you know. Of course with the real estate boom, you've just locked out the next generation of wage earners making 30-50K a year.

Man, these people are barely getting by. They have a mortgage because they need a home, not because they are seeking a tax shelter. With a family of four, their standard deduction is close to equal their itemization expenses.

Let me ask again: Think increasing the top rate back to 39% is going to make Buffet pay his "fair share"?

I think that we need to make sure that taxes are truly progressive, and not rely on some superficial discussion that focuses only on income tax brackets.
