By the way, I am dubious that Nissan can do that. GM is taking a big risk on battery technology to do the Volt in the timeframe they promised. Nissan is going beyond that with their promises.

Nissan has its shit together in a big way.

If they announced it, it is happening.

As you pointed out, these things don't occur overnight.

Nissan is using a Lith. Ion battery developed by NEC and Tokyo Electric. (Probably not a union shop). They say it can be charged to 80% capacity in 15 minutes and has 85% usefulness after 7 years of use with an exceptionally thin profile.
