Things like hedonic adjustments are arguable and most other countries don't do it for their inflation figures hence their CPIs are higher. Still there's a case for such sophistication and it's certainly not just a fraud, more a philosophical viewpoint. The beter economists like Ian Shepherdson are the people to weight not the loudmouths with a website - Carl Weinberg calls them "teenage scribblers".
