Ann, McCain had pretty much the same problem after "disdaining" the connections of "lobbyists" to various politicians and then having to fire a LOT of his own staff after it came out that THEY were in fact lobbyists.

That kinda stuff plays well on the "blogs" and all the "inside the beltway" chatlines and such but I really doubt that most of the average voters in November are going to be caring about that stuff when they cast their ballots.

Obama has to make McCain seem like a "continuation" of Bush and McCain has to make Obama look like an "out of touch, elete, weird guy".

I LIKE McCain and I know at his core he is NOTHING like Bush, but he's stuck on a tightrope in which he has to hold the Republican Base while pulling in the Independents. He has a he11 of a headwind in front of him do to the economic mess we're in.

I'm not sure WHAT we'd get with Obama, but I'm pretty sure it would involve a LOT of "thought and discussion" and after Bush/Cheney I think we really could use a lot of that.

I can HONESTLY say I don't know which candidate I'll vote for.
