BP says global oil production fell 0.2 pct in 2007

LONDON, June 11, 2008 (AFP) - Energy giant BP said on Wednesday that worldwide crude oil production fell 0.2 percent last year, in a global market report which highlighted tightening energy supplies.

The company's annual report was published against a backdrop of surging crude oil prices which rocketed last week to record peaks of almost 140 dollars per barrel and which breached 134 dollars on Wednesday.

BP said global oil output dipped to 81.53 million barrels per day in 2007 from the previous year, marking the first annual drop since 2002.
