It is just so disillusioning. I thought he said he was going to bring us change and unity and hope, and now we see he is the hopeless cynic that he claimed to oppose. This is a good post by the author, and just perusing his blog, there are a few others. The love affair with Obama's charisma is something that probably won't last until election day. Young people are enamored with him while more "seasoned" individuals are skeptical of his claims (of course, there is a contingent of Democrats, like those on this thread, who will have to vote for him, regardless). It isn't surprising to me that young people are drawn to him. As a 20 year old, I, too, would probably have asked the question, "Why not negotiate with Iran?". Most people, as they get older and more experienced, can see the problem with it -- but if you're 19, it might sound like a very good idea. This election may turn on the generation gap -- those who are older and more experienced understand how important that experience is, and many will vote for McCain on that basis -- even if holding their noses when they do it. If you go to the doctor, you don't want Doogie Houser cutting on you.
