I agree with you Rambi. Way too much passion pro/con over ANWR. Drilling there would be no big deal environmentally, but it also would hardly be our salvation. It's become just a political football.

As to it being "our" oil. Well, actually it's the oil companies oil, and they can sell it to whoever offers the highest price in the world. It's a commodity that you can ship anywhere. That's what I meant by fungible.

Because of that, Clinton once put an export ban on Alaskan oil. This was very unpopular with the oil firms and so was later reversed.
