I did not realize it when I first bot after they announced hole #1, but I had seen this pit on tv history channel or somewhere. The artisanal miners looked like ants climbing in and out of the pit with packs of ore on their backs. the mining claims were 3 m x 3m or something of that size. The claim owners were able to make deals so that they all excavated simultaneously as they went down. apparently water and ground control problems put the kibash on ops and they ended up with a deal with CSI. I do not understand how CVRD got into the act in between, but they did a lot of drilling with good results also.
