=== "So you wish to compare the cold war to the fight against terrorism?" ===

Weapons of mass destruction, whether exported to the US via Saddam Hussein's evil, murderous regime, or North Korea's evil, murderous regime, or exported or delivered by Iran's evil, murderous regime, or aimed at us via Cuba during the cold war (Cuban Missile Crisis 1962), are all terroristic.

The cold war certainly turned out to be terrorism to Poland and Hungary and East Germany and the rest of Eastern Europe, as well as the unfortunate, victimized citizens of Russia.

I take it that, for some reason, you don't equate the cold war, especially Stalin's reign of terror, as a horror that can be equated with terrorism.
