Nobody but nobody wants to look at a creative solution to the oil problem

The technology is there - all it would take is the will of a leader and the US would follow.

Why not invest money and resources to give up the oil addiction once and for all?

One small (not too small) problem:

Exxon Mobil
BP
Conoco Phillips
Royal Dutch Shell
etc etc

among the largest US and World Corporations, by market cap and sales, will not give up without a fight.

It seems that nobody could win a major political contest in the US at this point with strong anti-oil rhetoric,
unless someone at the major oil companies can figure out a different way for them to make profits.

I'm not suggesting that they (the oil companies) could do it better or more efficiently,
it just seems it's the path of least resistance.
