Finally, I heard on the news tonite that Iraq may cost us as much 2.7 trillion dollars

A ridiculous claim.

That liberal had to throw in everything including the kitchen sink to get to that number.

What an idiot.

Patrick Cockburn on C-Span Journal, last 45 minutes or so this am, has written a new book on Muqtada, very interesting stuff... Watch the rerun today or the Net version if you can.

His comments on the Status of Forces negotiations, the 58 bases we want, (30 big ones already there; wonder what that costs? and McBush figures we will be there only another 100 years) with our "rights" to do as we please sounded like the West Bank but with military settlements instead of "settlers", (with "legal???" treaty rights) who can kill and pillage whomever and whenever we please. Seems that the Iraqis like the West Bank Pals are not too happy with those kind of arrangements.

And the discussion of the corruption that is going on over there plus the 160,000+ contractors exceeding the total of the US Military that we are paying for, etc.,...Yup, socialism for the Blackwater types but "good" socialism since it funds the far right wingers and provides for our "defense??"...OHMIGOSH

Two point seven ($2.7) Trillion is too small a number and more and more we are seeing the effect of this insane spending and worst foreign policy debacle ever on our financial system and our military capabilities. And Bush still stumbles around, now in Europe, embarrassing and disgracing our country.

Finally, I heard on the news tonite that Iraq may cost us as much 2.7 trillion dollars. Its a huge disaster and drain on the treasury. It makes me sick.

Me too. Worst policy mistake in US history.

With all the natural disasters we are having....I frankly don't see how we can get out of the financial mess we are in for some time.
