I've no idea what your mother's situation was, really, but mine quite assuredly was bigoted. I differentiated you mother from Kate's and mine. I disagree that the latter were necessarily bigoted. I think they could have been either passively accepting of reality or too cowardly to take a stand on principle. Maybe my mom was just being an overly protective mother. If Kate's mom likes and enjoys the company of the woman, I don't see how she can be much of a bigot.
