Not sure I follow your argument

I think the stresses of each phase are different and I'm not sure one can extrapolate totally from one to the other.

For example, Obama had lost some of his poise during the latter acrimonious stages of the primaries. He has since regained it in a big way.

I thought it had to do with the Wright issue but the more I think about it, I feel it must have been his acute awareness of the real and present danger to the Democratic party itself that had him off balance.

The stresses the rest of the way are going to be peanuts compared to the big bullet the party dodged.
