You are making the assumption that the new data plan includes text messages like the old one. Others have made the opposite assumption, necessitating another $5 charge for 200 text messages.

Here's a good comparison with the latter assumption, where the TCO over 2 years is shown to increase by $160:

I agree with Slacker though-- although the improvements are worth $160 to me, I expect that a minimum monthly bill of $70 (or $75) will be a significant deterrent to mass adoption when all is said and done. At&T most recently reported ARPU at $50.18 (average revenue per user), so iPhone may still not cross over to the typical user just yet.
