Supreme Court was created to rule on the constitutionality of US law. Where the constitution is silent it has no directive to legislate.

the Supreme Court was created to advance democracy

That is so wrong on its face it's laughable. It is the opposite of a democracy.

we are a society based on laws and the Supreme Court was created to advance democracy whether it's this decision or Roe vs Wade.

Go read Article III of the Constitution. You will see not a word about "advancing democracy" in its description of the Supreme Court, which was created to adjudicate the laws of the United States of America. NOT to overturn hundreds of years of precedents, run roughshod over the other two branches of the government (who had already passed a law specifically tailored to address this question) and invent new rights out of whole cloth.
