Maybe I misread it, but the AT&T site implies the current plans get 200 messages.

It's fairly confusing, since there are different data plans offered for different classes of phones. My understanding is that smartphones qualify for a $30/mo "PDA Personal" unlimited data plan, which does not include any SMS's. For feature phones (non-smartphones), AT&T offer a $20 plan that include unlimited data and 200 SMS (called MediaMax 200). Is that perhaps what you are seeing?

Edit: Now I don't even see MediaMax 200 offered anymore, but MEdiaNet Unlimited is $15 and you can add Messaging 200 for $5 to recreate it. I don't see any data plans that include the 200 sms bundle which can only be added a la carte.
