Thanks, Seminole, That was something my husband also said. His office used to be packed with huge boxes of paper and research during a case (he was a litigator). As a young associate, he once spent weeks in a warehouse just reading records. And he said con law is the most obtuse field of law. They don't take the simple stuff. It's obvious that this decision satisfied people here in a moral sense, our instinctive belief that it's wrong to keep these prisoners for years without hearing when there are so few boundaries to the conflict that placed them there. But this shouldn't be confused with the actual issues, which aren't that black-white. Anyway, I will bow out now. Reading the dissenting opinions just had me realizing how NOT simple this is, and I thought that deserved acknowledgement.
