Then I suggest you read the dissenting opinions to gain a more complete understanding of the complex issues, rather than labelling anyone who doesn't lockstep with your opinion as The Other.

As for your approach- what you seemed not to get is that neither Lane nor I was taking a side. We were looking at the problems caused by the changing face of modern conflict and the need to redefine terms.

And no one's opinion should ever be ridiculed. Ever.

At the end of the day, it comes down to one's world view.

And this is what I have been saying... the thread is pleased because "their" world view won this round. THe RW is unhappy they didn't. But is this what it SHOULD come down to? I am trying to look at it without involving my own personal world view as the definition of what happened being right or wrong. This about the law, not about feelings.

There was an amazing survey some time ago in which people said they believed that the Supreme Court should bow to popular opinion. You seem to be edging rather close to this.
