We are providing leadership already with very aggressive emissions controls. I have posted articles here that Chinese firms wont use these emissions controls even if installed. We have several billion Asians, South Americans and Middle Easterners with rising prosperity and they are not going to defer their use of coal for example. In the middle east they are burning the worst oil residual oil in power generation because they can. So until some new technology is developed that is more cost effective the coal or oil then we should not be lowering our standard of living.
