Mr. Phua is positive on the trend of SSD (solid state drive) and he expects SSD will be the driver for all Nand Flash application. In the past, Nand Flash demand is decided by Apple but starting from 2008, it will be decided by SSD

Depending on how one defines SSD, that may be overstating the matter. Apple never really "decided" demand, but because of their large consumption, has at times been a significant driver and continues to be a major driver.

What exactly is an SSD? Does an iPhone contain an SSD? What about the iPod shuffle? Is a USB flash drive an SSD?

I don't disagree that SSD (by whatever definition) will grow quickly after 2008 and for some years, but solid state storage will change down the road enough to make the term "drive" obsolete.
