Agree on the Unions------but how can that be accomplished.

Vouchers and Charter schools and force the public school system to compete. The unions are deathly afraid that a voucher system would bleed off their students, (to the better school), shrink the public school system and rob them of their power base.....

In addition to the teacher unions we have the USA Department of Education, State Boards of Education, County Boards of Education-----some appointed and some elected.

I believe it was Mitt Romney in the bigging of his campaign, was talking about cutting Gov't programs...at the top of his list was the Dept of Education. The further we go from the grass roots level it seems the worse education gets so maybe it's time to try reversing the cycle.
