I expect they'll rotate a few candidates through for a while, not anoint someone right away. NBC won't want another Katie Couric debacle. Here's a list of all the MtP moderators - it's funny, I remember Lawrence Spivak, but Bill Monroe is a total non-entity to me. Spivak 1966 – 1975 Bill Monroe 1975 – 1984 Roger Mudd / Marvin Kalb (co-moderators) 1984 – 1985 Marvin Kalb 1985 – 1987 Chris Wallace 1987 – 1988 Garrick Utley 1989 – 1991 Tim Russert 1991 – 2008 There is no one I can think of who comes anywhere near Russert in terms of personality, credibility, and depth and breath of experience in both journalism and Washington political life. The head honchos must be reeling.
