Excellent points, Syb.

There is, of course, a collective phenomenon that takes place and much of the sociology and philosophy of science tries to take account of it. So as evidence builds up, take GW as an illustration, there is little doubt that structures fall into place that depend on those findings. But, and this is the critical point to me, if the findings don't continue to support it, if the evidence changes, the entire industry is committed to following the evidence.

Very, very rare.

The problem is that some scientists are for sale. Just saw that at Harvard and you see it, to some unknown extent, in the GW debate. And some segments of industry most affected, take the tobacco industry as an illustration, now how to buy off scientists.

But, overall, I completely agree. The community, the serious members of that community, follow the evidence.
