Are you trying to compare being an atheist to being a Muslim. If so you are attempting to make an invalid comparison.

Ken...."My Father was an aethist. Does that make me an aethist?"..... If the rules of atheist's group state that if you are born to an atheist father that makes you an atheist and there happens to be a billion and a half of said atheist then you would be viewed as an atheist by a billion and a half people and if the atheist's had a death sentence for apostates or those who would leave the atheist group then ya may want to hide your butt. And of course if the atheist group had in its rules that lying to others that do not belong to your group is an obligation of all atheist's....well... A big part of the problem that may exist is how you are viewed by a large portion of the worlds population.
