The truth is that ordinary americans did get fooled by the wmd hype and now it appears questionable that the admin believed this more than 50/50 as well. So yes Russert might have been fooled. Chris Matthews and Russert had a rocky relationship as i remember it. If you look at as a three side coin, matthews comes from the irish catholic left tradition of jimmy breslin and pete hamill, buchanan is a rt winger our of the more traditional catholic mold, and russert was the majoritarian catholic conservative values with a liberal working class politics thrown in. All legit as far as i am concerned. And i like all three because i love the irish catholics.
