A very large number of the detainees were turned in by bounty hunters in Afghanistan with nothing but their word that they were AQ, not "on the battlefield", for which the bounty hunters were paid $10k or more, a fortune there. The bounty hunters then disappeared

Of course then there was the US military anxious to show results to Bush which allowed them to believe that a 70 year old [the same age as McBush] and 13 year olds were important players in terrorist moves against the US. Sadly, they were not released until year or two after they were 'housed' at gitmo.

There have been 770 detainees over the years since 2002. We only have 270 there now. About 500 have been cleared and released. Sometimes wrongly released, as some have returned to fight for the Taliban.

Its likely that any innocents detained were long ago released.

The fact that the US has cleared and released (note: cleared doesn't necessarily mean they were detained wrongly - they may h/b but it may just be that they think they're no longer a continuing threat) gives the lie to the liberal claim the US is willfully and knowingly detaining innocents.

Its shameful that liberals are spreading such lies when the facts show the US has bent over backward to release people not considered dangerous.
