You mean the MOON don't ya? I can't remember how much light stars make. I remember the Red LED on a VCR can light up a room enough to see. I will be in a dark place in August and will try to remember to check it out, should be a new moon or least prior to moonrise anyway.

Now far as the galaxies, I was lucky enough to look through an 18inch Dobsonian with Computer Tracking and saw FIVE galaxies last month which is FOUR more than I ever seen my whole life. Plus Saturn, that's a wonder all to itself. And STAR CLUSTERS. This was with lots of background light from the human beanies nitelites, etc.
