Thank you. I had forgotten about Turkey, a member of NATO. We have had bases there for a long time. But they have not been a source of any bad feelings with the Muslim world. Your buddy Osama has never said word one about them.

--------------------------------------------

And you forget that the 6th fleet plies ME waters on a regular basis.

So what? We have ships in the Atlantic and Pacific and Indian oceans all the time.
---------------------------------------------

Al Udeid is among several US military bases in the Gulf area. Nearly 10,000 Army soldiers are at Camp Doha in Kuwait, and 4,200 troops are in Bahrain, headquarters for the Navy's Fifth Fleet. Several thousand are in Saudi Arabia and a few thousand in Oman.

And that is all from recent years.
---------------------------------------------

Why would the US be sending so many troops to Muslim countries because of 9/11? After all, it wasn't a country that caused 9/11.

Afghanistan gave AQ free rein to use their country for bases and train personnel - including the 911 hijackers. So yes, that was a reason to overthrow the Taliban government.
