If nothing else, it is clear that the one thing that will get this problem solved is high gasoline prices. Raising the MPG requirements on new cars (essentially, eliminating the rights of automobile buyers to drive WTF they want to drive) does not contribute to a long-term solution of the problem.

The ONLY thing that will solve this problem is more expensive gasoline. For a good communist such as you, it is impossible to understand. But for the rest of us, government isn't the solution to all problems.

Not to mention that one of Reagan's first acts was to choke to death the alternative energy programs started under Carter.

It was pretty clear it was a national security issue if nothing else. If we had continued those programs, well...
