Dear Ted,

A few hours from now I will step on stage in Detroit, Michigan to announce my support for Senator Barack Obama. From now through Election Day, I intend to do whatever I can to make sure he is elected President of the United States.

Over the next four years, we are going to face many difficult challenges -- including bringing our troops home from Iraq, fixing our economy, and solving the climate crisis. Barack Obama is clearly the candidate best able to solve these problems and bring change to America.

This moment and this election are too important to let pass without taking action.

That's why I am asking you to join me in showing your support by making a contribution to this campaign today:

Over the past 18 months, Barack Obama has united a movement. He knows change does not come from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue or Capitol Hill. It begins when people stand up and take action.

With the help of millions of supporters like you, Barack Obama will bring the change we so desperately need in order to solve our country's most pressing problems.

If you've already contributed to this campaign, I ask that you consider making another contribution right now. If you haven't, please take the next step and own a piece of this campaign today:

On the issues that matter most, Barack Obama is clearly the right choice to lead our nation.

We have a lot of work to do in the next few months to elect Barack Obama president, and it begins by making a contribution to this campaign today.

Thank you for joining me,

Al Gore

Have you ever read anything quite so insane? People like him have controlled this country for so long, he thinks what he is saying is perfectly normal thinking!

Yeah the dumb shits suffer under the delusion that they live in some kind of libertarian utopia. You suggest changing a regulation to improve society as a whole and it's "Oh My Gawd them liberals are tyring to tell me what to drive!!!". Hell about 80% of their vehicle is regulated by government, and they are too dense to realize it.

Trust me, it has little to do with libertarianism or regulation by gov't. The real reason has to do with the money. They don't want to be taxed. Look at the states where they these people predominate....most are poor and backwards. The exceptions are TX where huge oil deposits were found, leading to significant prosperity; FLA....where tourism is king; and NC. I don't know how NC became progressive but its an aberration, not the rule.

They would rather fumble in the dark than pay taxes to provide the necessary lighting. It is such stupid thinking...and has kept the South in an also ran position for so many years inspite of all the industry that has moved there since WW II. You would think they would see the folly of their thinking but instead, they are trying to impose their thinking on the rest of the nation. I am all for pinching a penny but not at the expense of advancement and enlightenment.

As offensive as the rant is below, there is a lot of truth to it:
