I don't consider "divide and conquer" to make good economic sense. A true progressive tax would lift the FICA cap completely. Since that amounts to raising taxes, Obama can then make it revenue-neutral by lowering the overall rate. That way, he can make the rich pay for the poor's Social Security benefits. Like I said, Obama is no more knowledgeable on economics than McCain. He was voted president of Harvard Law Review, not Harvard Business Review. Tenchusatsu
