Good news. Nepal's King Gyanendra has been asked to vacate his residence, Narayanhiti Palace in Kathmandu (Pawel Kopczynski/Reuters)

The country's Maoist-led assembly voted to abolish the monarchy two weeks ago. The Narayanhiti palace will be turned into a national museum. Gyanendra Shah, as he is now officially known, has vowed not to flee the country but to stay on and work for the good of its people.
