The "true cost" -- the cost ARBITRARILY determined by you, government, or whatever -- that's the "true cost".

Pretty much. Right now the drivers of inefficient vehicles are making gas much more expensive for everyone. You think that's fair?

Let's call it what it is: More taxes.

No, let's call it appropriate taxes and incentives. That's what it is.

Every tax has a winner and a loser... no different.

David, > The "true cost" -- the cost ARBITRARILY determined by you, government, or whatever -- that's the "true cost".

When it comes to the environment, the "true cost" includes exactly how much it would take for society to clean up what you are doing. The hidden costs, so to speak.

Of course this is arbitrarily determined by the government. It makes sense when it comes to dumping toxic waste in our rivers, emitting smog and chemicals that lead to acid rain, and even picking up after your dog. Carbon neutrality, on the other hand, is a dubious goal.
