Yes someone like that is someone I would never trust with children, no matter how many years later, or how many good deeds he had done since.

Imagine a 100,000 people like that. Maybe one of them does a lot of good later in life, and also never harms anyone again. But who is going to take that 1 in 100,000 chance. Everyone would always view them as a danger to children, and reasonably so.

And even if you somehow have perfect knowledge that for this person things will change dramatically, and that he will never offend again, that doesn't mean you stop justice from its course.
