Every time I go to Costo, they've got fancy new cars out in front with info stickers, and they all get CRAPPY gas mileage. We should tax these so they cost a fortune! Exactly. And you should get a nice check for driving a car that gets 50 MPG. I think $5K a year for state registration for the hogs, and a $5K a year check for super efficient cars would do the trick. Maybe a sliding scale with a $2.5K level as well. The auto industry would respond immediately. The consumer would respond immediately. The oil market would respond immediately. Crisis solved. Next?
