In a physical/physics sense that isn't 80% greater efficiency in oil use. Even in an economics sense, you aren't saving 80% of the cost, and in an environmental sense you aren't likely to reduce CO2 emissions or other emissions by 80%. I think what is commonly called "fuel efficiency", should be called (and sometimes is) "fuel economy".

Today's cars are much more efficient in terms of fuel usage than cars in the past, but they aren't necessarily much better at reducing the use of gasoline.
