France's coach was horrible in this tourney with his lineup decisions. I was shocked to see Makelele and Thuram out there, I thought they had retired. Those guys retired 4 years ago, but then they came back in 2006 when Zidane rounded up the boys for one last run. Thuram got beaten routinely during the Group Stage. Also, without Zidane they're mostly just a defensive thug team with no real offensive attack.

Italy is good, but Cannavarro's absence has hurt their defense. The goalie is making up for it, though, by playing like a man possessed.

Holland's main challenge is probably not going to be any opponent, but rather keeping all their players oriented towards the team.

Germany's coach doesn't seem to have the touch of Klinsmann. He's put their only really good striker, Podolski, playing midfield.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen the two most exciting teams, Spain or Portugal.
