Yes, energy independence is indeed my top priority.

Plus, gotta attack the problem from all sides. Drill more, conserve more, research alternative energy.

Are you afraid that by drilling more, prices will fall, people will not be motivated to conserve, and alternative energy won't be pushed forward?

ANWR production and conservation aren't mutually exclusive things.

As far as reducing our usage 3%, we're actually slightly down from our usage a year ago. Not sure the exact percent, but 3% is probably going to be achieved soon simply by prices going up.
