So you'd oppose Obama and the Democratic Congress spending money to subsidize alternative energy projects?

There are two different problems here. One is gasoline, where I think our tax code should subsidize efficiency and punish inefficiency. That's technology agnostic.

The other problem is electric energy production, which will be needed with the future transition to electric vehicles. I think the government should subsidize projects in that sector, as they paid for the transcontinental railway, or the interstate road system, as they subsidize nuke plants, etc, etc. It's basically an infrastructure problem.
