A silly link, Bob. It's clear Obama gets under your skin.

Those questions are not answerable questions, neither candidate will "control" their party. Obama has a bit more of an opportunity to control the legislative agenda should he get elected than McCain because his intraparty support is larger and because he may well have strong majorities in both houses of congress.

McCain has so alienated much of his party that he will find himself fighting party leaders in both houses, should he get elected.

You seem to think political conversations are meant to be attacks on political opponents. Strange way to sit around the kitchen table and talk with friends.

>>"McCain, moreover, is the creature of so many lobbyist groups, he could hardly stop the spending. It's more likely to be yet another way in which he is the third Bush term."

And what in any rational manner can you cite to show Obama will be able to control his party? What magical powers do you think this guy has? While we are seeking specifics - give me one legislative accomplishment of Obama - just one?<<

Bob -

Changing the subject to Obama doesn't respond to the point about McCain and his adherence to the majority of Bush's policies.

As for Obama's accomplishments in the Senate, he was co-sponsor, along with Republican Tom Coburn, of a bill (S 2590) to create a public, searchable website to track all Federal spending. Info is available at: ombwatch.org

Too bad the Senator on TV didn't know about that. Too bad Chris Matthews didn't.

On June 3rd of this year, Obama was once again the co-sponsor of a bill (S3077) to strengthen that transparency law. The other sponsors are Tom Coburn (R-OK), Tom Carper (D-DE), and John McCain (R-AZ).

You've asked about any sign of Obama being able to reach across the aisle. I'd say that co-sponsoring a bill with his opponent in the presidential election is a pretty good sign.

Also, did you see the post here a day or so ago about one of his fellow state legislators in Illinois? It quoted the man, a Republican, extensively. This is a man who was willing to do a TV commercial for Obama, because he was impressed with the way Obama had reached across the aisle and worked with Republicans.
