"for someone who has accomplished nothing. "

Um
hello
first of all- he accomplished becoming the nominee of a major party- which is not "nothing"- and he accomplished it because he is polished, can speak English, and gosh darn it, people like him- we should all be such "nothings". He wrote two books. He was a successful community organizer and got elected to the congress. He also did really well at Harvard. If you call that "nothing"- that's a little odd, imo.

On top of that he seems to be a pretty decent guy married to the same wife he started out with, and he has two adorable kids.

Talk about hyperbole. Better read your own posts.

It is those who are nothing but blatant shills for someone who has accomplished nothing.

That's over the line, Bob. People of differing opinions can differ respectfully. This is just venting your contempt at those who don't agree with you.

Please don't do it again, or choose to do it elsewhere.

>>House Democrats responded to President's Bush's call for Congress to lift the moratorium on offshore drilling. This was at an on-camera press conference fed back live.

Among other things, the Democrats called for the government to own refineries so it could better control the flow of the oil supply.<<

Bob -

That's inaccurate reporting at best. The article you linked to quotes exactly one Democrat saying that the government should own the refineries. Yet it makes it sound as though the Democrats presented a united front endorsing the idea.

Shoddy journalism from a clearly biased source.

- Allen

I'm not in a position to monitor your posts, Bob, but if you are calling the several of us on this thread who support Obama "blatant shills" then that's certainly well out of bounds for kitchen table political conversation.

As for Obama accomplishing nothing, you must be kidding. He lacked the clout of an accomplished Navy family to get him through college and law school (McCain just barely made it and there are strong reasons to suspect he did so because of family clout) at very high levels of achievement (McCain barely made the C necessary to slip through the doors at the end).

Obama was the editor of the law review at Harvard Law School, the top of the top, with no assist from family clout. He was a senior lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School, one of the premier ones in the country, without family clout.

He was elected to both the Illinois senate and the US senate without a rich second wife whose family had clout within the state.

Look, I would be happy to talk politics with you but you need to step back from throwing mud pies and check your facts carefully.

House Democrats call for nationalization of refineries

Classic illustration of classic problem. It's a Fox News over the top item. The Dems are not going to call for nationalization of the oil industry. Perhaps some deep backbencher did so but it will not come from the leadership. And when the phrase "the Dems" is used by Fox News, that's what they want you to believe.

Home team pass indeed.
