What you described could almost be called honesty. They found Diogenes in a back alley on Howe Street. The recognized him at once with his lamp and asked him if he was still looking for an honest man after all these years. Legend had it that he would extinguish his lamp when he found a person of unblemished virtue and unquestioned rectitude. He replied "Hell no, this is Howe Street isn't it? I was on vacation, so I picked a spot where there would be no chance of running into that sort of thing and having to lose my light." EC<:-}
