GWB in 2004 and 2008...Yes, he looks older, but not nearly as goofy as some of the media paints him...

Agree a 100%. Grind the economy to a halt in an election year. Let Obama put on a sweater in the Fall and tell us how we have to turn our heat down to 68 degrees. Maybe even mention "diminished expectations."

Inflation is already socking the system. See it at the gas pumps and in the grocery stores. Hear it from the truckers and those who have to commute to work.

The greens aren't prepared to manage it. So use of public transit is up, so what? Housing prices in the burbs are down 50% and foreclosures are still soaring. Not enough housing close to work; those prices are holding. Location, location, location.

The RR's are thriving with all that freight business. We're not prepared for the oil shock as it runs through the system.

The Republicans should attack, full battle cry. Let it turn into a fight between those who are "practical" and the greens.

Both sides are still caught with their pants down and the average Joe is screwed. Takes 8 to 10 years to get any domestic flow going. Workers and retirees on fixed incomes are going to be screaming bloody murder.

How long before they dump ethanol to lower grain prices? How long before they have to start telling the truth about inflation and letting the COLA's start to raise SS and all those pensions and rents tied to it? What's that do to the deficit and the stock market?

Gonna be Armageddon out there and there's no way I see to get hold of it quick. Won't be that bad before the election, but in '09?

At least there'll be some issues to campaign on, none of which I or the politicos expected.

I can't afford to retire. figure I'm working till 70 with rising prices. Gees, they're doubling the tax on garbage pickup in my city, going to 36 bucks a month. All my utilities are going up too.

Taxes are going up right along with the cost of everything else. 4 bucks a gallon is the magic number and now it's close to 5 where I am.

The only good thing is that traffic is falling like a stone on the freeways.
