Bil:
"If Bush vetoed every single spending bill that crossed his desk over the eight years, my life probably wouldn't have been affected one iota. I guess I'm not part of the gimme crowd."

koan: I miss your point. We live in a democracy. Our entire society is in trouble because of the huge debt we have run up since 1980. From one trillion to ten trillion.

This could cause a collapse of the dollar and an economic depression. That in turn could cause many other problems like social unrest or other bad events.

Hitler rose out of Germany's depression.

So what our leaders do does affect all of us. I am old enough to have talked with people who lived through the great depression. It was horrible. People starving. children starving.

The only people who would not be afffected by the misery caused by a huge depression are self sufficient sociopaths who do not care what happens to others and do not believe "I am my brothers keeper".

I want to live in a civilized nation that cares what happens to the less fortunate.
