The liberal hysteria over oil drilling is incredibly illogical. I don't think there is a "liberal hysteria", but I do think there is some strong NIMBY resistance. Which is understandable... I live within a few miles of some of the best beaches in the country, and a whole lot of people's livelihood depends on those beaches. That said, I like the current proposal where it is up the the states to decide. Until recently, the states didn't get much of any return on the royalties. Now that has changed, and they can make a risk/reward cost/benefit decision. And possibly enact their own safety regulations. For sure we should enact "use it or lose it" on the oil leases. I know you love the oil companies and think they are doing everything they can to bring on additional production; I don't share your confidence.
