I dont know why it should end worse for a short as opposed to a long. people who have been long financials have just been crushed, as reliance on book values and phony earnings have turned out to be pipe dreams. I think more likely that not before this is over we will see lots of banks either closing their doors or being forced to merge. This is probably not good for IT spending in the United States anyway.
