Words don't have one definition for all time. Definitions follow usage.

If enough people make a "mistake" about a word for long enough than its no longer a mistake its a new meaning for the word.

Democracy now means not only "direct democracy", it also includes a representative republic where reps are democratically elected.

Come on-lol. That is just arguing and splitting hairs which is counterproductive. You know what I meant.

The great writer Alexis De Tocqueville, who wrote such a great book on American democracy titled his book: "Democracy in American."
