I understand what you are saying, and agree- but I was speaking more to the silly laws making suicide a crime. I do believe in lots of help for the mentally ill- much more help than is available now (and such help will need to be forthcoming if those studies I read about the rates of mental illness for our veterans are correct), but I also think we need to be compassionate and forgiving to people who wish to end their lives. Part of the reason children are (often) so scarred by suicide is because there is such stigma about it- stigma affecting not just the person attempting or committing suicide, but stigma which attaches to the whole family. IMO, of course.
